Brendin | 3 Months | Hammond, LA Baby and Child Photographer

Ask any baby photographer what the hardest age to photograph is and I bet you will hear “3 months” over and over again.  I am not going to lie, normally they are a challenge.  They aren’t as flexible and easy to pose as a newborn and they can’t sit up like a 6 month old.  Most of the session you are trying to find a way to prop them up without making it look ridiculous or you photograph them on their back.  Last month I had two back to back three month old sessions and I was so pleased with how they turned out.  I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what the difference in these two babies were and I think I finally got it.  Clothes!  Three month old babies HATE CHANGING CLOTHES!  We didn’t worry about dressing them in a bunch of outfits so they stayed in a good mood for longer and since both moms wanted a more natural look I was able to position them in ways that you can’t really do when you are trying to show off a picture perfect outfit.  I do believe I am going to try to encourage my moms to hold off on the “big boy” and “big girl” outfits until 6 months and stick with a more natural look for 3 months.  The results included much happier babies, better portraits and a happy mom and photographer!

Enough about that lets get on to Mr. Brendin’s blog post!  Brendin is one of my newest Grow with Me plan members so I will be seeing him every few months over the next year.  So excited!  He did great for the first half of his session but then got a little tired.  We were able to get him to sleep for a few shots and then after his tiny cat nap he was up and ready to go!  Here are a few of my favorite shots from his session.  Enjoy!

xoxo,

Amber
